BIOGRAPHY
of Melissa Sue Labrador-Posey "Doah Aye Nibi" (a.k.a. melissa sioux)
Melissa Labrador-Posey, Granddaughter of the late Mi'kmaq Elder, Charles Labrador, and daughter of the Mi'kmaq artisan, Todd Labrador and Jean Augustine-McIsaac, Melissa is a self-taught artist who is strongly in touch with her native heritage. She was born in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia and raised in South Brookfield and is a current resident of the area.
An 8th generation to the Mi'kmaq from the Kedgemakooge area of Nova Scotia, she shares her deep connection to her culture and spirituality through her art and artistic creations. Because of this deep connection she holds with her culture she cares deeply about the preservation of the of it and often assists her father in teaching in local schools as well as schools and organizations across Nova Scotia.
Melissa also extends her gratitude for her creative inspirations to her Husband, Samuel and her family.
